Sandpoint Idaho’s Panida Theater on 1st Street – Downtown

Panida Theater Sandpoint IdahoThe Panida Theater in Sandpoint Idaho was built in 1927 by F.C. Weskil in 1927.  Named Panida to represent the location of where it sits…”Panhandle of Idaho”.  Built as a Vaudville and Movie House, neglect began taking its toll after many years of success.  Only through Sandpoint Community fund raising was it saved in 1985.  On going fund raising and efforts continue to bring awards to the Panida Theater Sandpoint Idaho, one of which being on the National Register of Historic Places.   The theater is intimate with seating for 540.  This does not deter big entertainment names.  In fact the intimacy seems to be a welcome change in venue for entertainers.  I have enjoyed a wonderful night with one of my favorites in ‘Leo Kottke’, many fund raising events as well as a few nights of Banff Film Festival’s. Something also unique is being able to enjoy a glass of wine or beer, in the theater, with most events.   To enjoy great entertainment while wrapped in a bit of history be sure to make one of your stops The Panida Theater while in Sandpoint Idaho.  The Panida Theater is also available to rent for private functions.
